Franchisee of the Year Awards opens for entries

Franchisors asked to nominate their most inspiring start-ups

The 23rd annual Franchisee of the Year Awards has opened for entries, ahead of October’s 2012 ceremony.

Co-hosted by the British Franchise Association (bfa) and HSBC, the awards – which are this year supported by Express Newspapers – recognise the entrepreneurial franchisees who deliver exceptional results for their brand and set the standard for best practice across the industry.

Until June 29 franchisors across the country have the opportunity to nominate up to five of their most passionate and professional franchisees – choosing one from each of the categorised regions.

The 2012 bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards will award one franchisee from each of the following areas: London and the south east; the south west and south Wales; the Midlands and north Wales; the north of England; and Scotland and Northern Ireland.

HSBC will award a £500 prize to each to the regional winners, as well as £2,000 to the Awards’ Bronze winner, £3,000 to the Silver winner and £5,000 to the winner of the overall Gold award.

Mike and Catharine Chalton of 2008 Startups Awards winner Home Instead Senior Care’s Wirral outlet, who snatched the bfa Awards’ top prize last year said:

“To be named as the bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year is a great honour and a very exciting reward. Winning this award was fantastic recognition of the lengths our whole team has gone to.”

Cathyrn Hayes, head of franchising at HSBC, added: “Despite today’s economic climate, the franchise sector is home to some of the UK’s most successful brands and there is plenty to be optimistic about.

“The Awards present a great opportunity to highlight the very best of these inspiring individuals, as well as to recognise and highlight today’s high standards in the franchising arena.”
