@Futsal scores with £3.25m deal

The indoor football pitch company is backed by the Foresight Group

@Futsal Limited has received £3.25m of funding in order to build a chain of indoor football pitches across the UK.

The company has been backed by the Foresight Group, which hopes that its investee will be able to deliver 30 sites over the next four years.

The investment will provide @Futsal with the working capital to fund the roll-out of centres around the country.

The company has recently opened a three-pitch centre in Swindon, Wiltshire, which was funded by its management team, and has already identified other potential sites. The deal provides the company with working capital for their development.

The centres are designed to house the playing of Futsal, which is essentially indoor five-a-side with a smaller ball. The company believes that this is set to become a rapidly growing sport in the UK and is already played by an estimated 30 million people across the world. The game is yet to take off in Britain but it is officially recognised by the FA as well as UEFA and FIFA.

“As the fastest growing indoor sport in the world, recognised by the major football organisations and supported by leading sports brands globally, we have identified a strong opportunity in a high growth market,” said Frank Rodriguez, the company’s managing director.   “By providing high quality, easily accessible facilities, we aim to make Futsal widely accessible to players of all ages and all levels of skill, and to really establish the sport in the UK market.”
