Global programme Start-Up Chile provides four British start-ups with opportunities for success

Renooble named as one of the British businesses to benefit from the start-up incubator

StartUp-Chile has announced the winners of its global competition, which offers seed capital of $40,000 and the opportunity to spend six months in Chile.

Winners will be offered mentoring support as well as the opportunity to network with clients and business professionals.

Of the 100 winning businesses from across 28 nations, four were British and included start-ups 3desk, Fabsie, DiceDeco and Renooble.

Based in the Isle of Wight, Renooble, a domestic renewable energy business which specialises in making access to renewable energy easier by listing energy providers and resellers, aims to use the programme to expand the company and boost small scale generation across the globe.

Led by Alvaro Boirac and Hannes Hapke, Renooble’s application was up against 1576 applicants from 68 countries. The duo decided to enter to combat the challenge of achieving fast-growth and networking in its small office in Cowes, Isle of Wight.

The programme forms part of the Chilean Government’s aim to become the entrepreneurship centre of Latin America by supporting and encouraging start-ups.

Hanke commented on the win: “I’m excited about meeting entrepreneurs from all over the world and learning about Chilean culture. We want to strengthen our network with Latin America and bring this experience and the connections we make back to the UK.”

Start-up Chile has opened applications of its eighth round, details can be found here.
