‘Groupon for small firms’ is up and running

New site to offer bulk discount on business equipment

A site which aims to offer Groupon-style bulk discounts to small firms has launched this week.

Huddlebuy.co.uk aims to extend the concept of online group buying, popular among consumers, to small firms – and offers deals on everything from photocopiers to accounting software, and even serviced office packages.

The site also offers a ‘request deal’ service which enables entrepreneurs to request the resurrection of an expired deal, or suggest a new one – once the suggestion has been received, Huddlebuy will contact its suppliers to try and make it happen.

The venture has been developed by experienced tech entrepreneurs Per Larsen, Chieu Cao and Saurav Chopra, and is backed by a team of investors including Alex Chesterman, co-founder of Zoopla and LOVEFilm.

Discussing the venture, Per Larsen said:

“Offline buying groups have been providing considerable savings to medium and large businesses for years, while online buying groups have only been targeted at the consumer market.

“It struck us that if the man on the street can get such a great deal on a product or service online then the same concept should be applied to small businesses.”

Lsarsen added that Huddlebuy’s “sole focus on saving small and medium firms money” is particularly important “at a time of rising inflation and weaker bottom lines,” and described small companies  as “the backbone of British business.”
