Halsbury Travel snaps up independent sports tour provider

Tours 4 Sport set to retain branding and management team

Nottingham-based school trip operator Halsbury Travel Ltd has completed the acquisition of Tours 4 Sport, a specialist provider of overseas sporting excursions.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tours 4 Sport will become the specialist sports arm of Halsbury Travel, and its branding and management team will remain intact. Halsbury Travel already conveys more than 50,000 passengers each year, and managing director Keith Sharkey believes the acquisition of a new specialist team will elevate the company to new heights. Sharkey told reporters: “Whilst we have organised dozens of highly successful sports tours each year, we wanted to bring in a group of experienced sports travel experts to ensure that Halsbury can offer the best sports tour options to schools and clubs in the UK, Europe and worldwide. “After conversations with numerous sports tour operators, we acquired Tours 4 Sport from its founding directors who impressed us with their industry reputation, knowledge and ambitious growth plans for the brand.” Daniel Smith, co-founder of Tours 4 Sport, added: “Now that Tours 4 Sport has become the sports tours division of Halsbury Travel our customers can look forward to the same personalised sports tour service with all the added benefits of being part of one of the leading school tour operators in the UK. “Halsbury Travel is ATOL and ABTA bonded as well as being a member of the School Travel Forum which will ensure that we can work with every school in the UK as well as continuing to work with universities and clubs to organise their sports tours.”
