High street tea chain start-up launches franchise opportunity

Tea Monkey set to roll-out contemporary tea shops across the UK

High street tea shop chain Tea Monkey is looking for franchisees to launch its nationwide franchise programme.

Founded in 2011, Tea Monkey serves over 40 varieties of loose tea in its Milton Keynes and Bath-based stores, where wall mounted iPads are available for customers’ use.

Founder Tracey Bovingdon is aiming to launch between six and 12 franchises across five major UK locations and is hoping to form the largest UK tea chain over the next five years.

Shopfit, equipment and signage cost between £80,000 and £120,000 and each franchisee will be provided with support, training and use of the company’s online ordering, stock and staff rota software, as well as national marketing and PR.   Bovingdon commented: “We are seeking dynamic people who are keen tea enthusiasts and, like us, are dedicated to developing the brand and its values to create a social hub within their own communities.”
