Tell us what your business does:
Holitries delivers holiday toiletries to your destination.
It was founded in 2017 to create a new channel for consumers to enjoy toiletries delivered to their holiday destination.
Where did the idea for your business come from?
The idea came from many years of travelling with kids on holiday; cramming clothes and toiletries into suitcases, worrying about baggage limits and restrictions and – worst of all – leaky bottles in the actual suitcases!
We also care very much about the environment, and actively promote “space in the case” to reduce your carbon footprint while saving you a pound or two along the way!
How did you know there was a market for it?
We conducted focus Groups and market research.
What were you doing before starting up?
I am still in full-time employment, working as a project manager for a pharmaceutical company.
Have you always wanted to run your own business?
Yes, it’s always been a dream!
How did you raise the money?
Holitries has received funding from myself, other founding partners and pre-seed investment.
Describe your business model and how you make money
We make money through sales revenue. The business model includes an operational base in mainland Europe and a limited company in the UK.
What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
Website development, balancing a full-time job with the business, and VAT. We have overcome these challenges by learning, adapting, adopting, failing and never giving up!
What was your first big breakthrough?
Having sales that were generated from outside our network.
What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Never give up, limit your expectations and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
Where do you want to be in five years’ time?
We want to be the number one holiday toiletry supplier.
