How to spread your business message online effectively
Why email marketing is one of the most effective ways to grow your business
When you’re launching a new business, the web can be a hugely effective tool for spreading the word and getting your brand noticed.
For less than the cost of a box of flyers, you can reach out to literally millions of people online.
Just because the tools are out there, however, doesn’t mean we all know how to use them, or how to get the best from them.
Here, we consider a handful of tips from an infographic by Itineris which can help you to spread your message effectively using email marketing software like little green plane.
You may think that email is losing its foothold when it comes to marketing, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Although other factors and systems come into play now as well, email marketing is still an important part of spreading your message to as many people as possible.
According to Itineris’ infographic, it is one of the most effective ways to promote, engage and expand your business. For further proof of its role for small businesses, consider the fact that the projected ROI from email marketing last year (2013) was £24.24 for every £1 spent.
Of course, this all relies on your emails being as effective as possible. To achieve this, you need to follow certain rules when it comes to designing your emails. This means taking a conscientious approach and ensuring that your emails are creative, practical and attractive.
It’s important to tailor content to your readers whilst delivering a clear brand message.
Better than social media?
There is a lot of talk about the importance of social media for businesses and while it is undoubtedly an area which you need to investigate, it should supplement rather than replace email marketing. Emails still offer access to a bigger resource pool.
Evidence of this can be drawn from Itineris’ infographic below which reveals that in 2012 as many as 3.1 billion new email accounts were created. That’s more than the number of new accounts created for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn combined.
Add into that the fact that email is the preferred method of commercial communication for almost three quarters (74%) of people and you can see why it’s important that you don’t overlook it.
If you’re still unconvinced about the merits of email marketing then just look at its track record for evidence of its successes.
On average, 18.35% will open the message with 2.95% clicking through. These may not be massive numbers but when you consider the volume of people you’re dealing with in the first place (if you’ve built up a decent email list), it still adds up to a considerable amount.
