HP announces new laptop and tablet range for small business at CES

Company claims product range will allow business owners to stay connected out of the office

Electronics manufacturer HP has announced the launch of a new range of laptops and tablets, targeted at the needs of small business owners.

Announcing the latest models during a presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA, last night, HP said its latest line will offer a range of options straddling affordability and quality for small businesses.

At the higher end of the range, the company unveiled its HP Pro x2 410 tablet/notebook hybrid, which allows users to detach the screen from the device to be used as an all-in one 2.5mm-thin tablet.

Retailing from £749, HP said the Pro x2 410 would offer the mobility of a tablet when on the go whilst allowing business owners and employees to rely on the versatility of a notebook when in the office.

HP also announced a range of notebooks targeted at small businesses on a budget, including the HP 350 business notebook, which contains features including DriveGuard hard-drive protection software, a spill-resistant keyboard and a fingerprint scanner for increased security and durability, which will retail from £299.

Other products announced in a similar price range included the HP Chromebook 14, a lightweight laptop using Google’s own cloud-based operating system, and the HP 200 G1 series, which HP said represented the most affordable option for business owners.

HP also announced the launch of a new ProDesk 400 desktop computer, retailing from €299.

Kobi Elbaz, vice president of commercial personal systems at HP’s EMEA division, said: “Today’s technology has evolved to meet the realities of the new workplace, as the traditional work/life balance makes way for the more flexible work/life blend.

“The HP two-in-one notebook announced today gives employees the ability to quickly address the demands of both work and life with style, while SMBs decrease technology purchase and supports costs at the same time.”
