Who are you?

Lee André, marketing manager at HSF health plan, a health cash plan provider.

What do you do?

We give contributors cashback on everyday healthcare, including dental and optical care, specialist consultations and medical investigations, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, chiropody, acupuncture, osteopathy and homoeopathy. The plans also provide personal accident cover, home care help, a birth grant and much more.

All HSF health plans also provide four free helplines: GP advice, medical information, stress counselling and a legal helpline, 24 hours a day, offering qualified advice when you need it most. HSF is the only cash plan provider that covers partners and children automatically for no extra cost.

What does that mean in practice?

This means that families can ring-fence their healthcare costs and do not have to worry about regular check-ups and the cost of treatment that inevitably adds up throughout the year. HSF health plans, which start at £1 per week, will reimburse you for 50-100% of these everyday health costs up to the plan maximum.

What size of company suits you?

We will cover any size of company, from a sole trader to a business with 10,000 employees or more. All employees have the same choice of nine plans, which range from £1 per week to £12 per week. The benefits funds people have at their disposal for each medical need are proportional to the subscription.

Why should I care?

Whether you are a large or small company, your employees will all have healthcare needs. The quicker these are treated the better, for them and for the company. All firms have a duty of care to employees and HSF health plans will provide much of the medical requirements for this, such as optical checks for VDU operators. The GP advice phone line provides direct access to GPs by phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is no limit to how many times contributors can call. 70% of the calls result in the caller not having to consult further with their own GP.

What can you do for me that I can’t do for myself?

We can provide large funds for you to have immediate access to for your healthcare needs. We also provide, in addition to the GP advice line, a stress helpline manned by professional counsellors, a legal helpline, which will give you guidance on all legal matters, and a medical advice line.

What mistakes will you stop me from making?

Recent research commissioned by HSF found that over a third of people in the UK put off essential medical checks, such as optical and dental appointments, due to the cost. Late detection of conditions can cause problems later on. Visits to dentists, opticians, consultants and complementary therapists are all covered by an HSF health plan up to the scheme maximum.

Can you give me an example?

After a visit from an HSF representative at work, G4S employee Jamie Hartley decided to invest in his health with an HSF health cash plan product. He opted for Plan A to cover any day-to-day health expenses such as dentist visits and occasional physio costs. A couple of months later he had a sporting accident, which left him with a 2cm long gash on his top lip and a broken tooth. His HSF adviser helped him to claim for both injuries, and he has since received £1,500.

Why should I trust you?

HSF health plan is the trading arm of The Hospital Saturday Fund, a registered charity, which was established in 1873, when contributors’ money went towards the upkeep of local hospitals. HSF health plan donates all surplus monies to the Hospital Saturday Fund to distribute to medically associated charities across the UK and Ireland. We are here to help people; we always have been and always will be.

What will it cost?

HSF health plans range from £1 per week to £12 per week and contributors can swap between plans at any time to cover their needs. The cost of the plans do not increase with age or number of claims.
