Index of Britain’s fastest growing companies confirms final members

Global Personals and PayasUGym among final inductees in scheme fronted by Lord Young and Sir Terry Leahy

Accelerate 250, the index celebrating the entrepreneurs responsible for creating more than half of all new UK jobs has inducted the final names into its list.

Backed by former Tesco boss Sir Terry Leahy and Lord Young, the scheme claiming to represent the top 6% of businesses that create more than half of new UK jobs has confirmed the last names to complete its index.

Created in preparation for the Accelerate 2013 event which took place on June 27, the final names include Neil Harmsworth and Jamie Ward of Startups 100 and Startups Top 20 company, PayasUGym.com and Young Guns Stephen Fitzpatrick (also a Startups 100 winner in 2010) of Ovo Energy, Callum Bush of MediaDevil, Nick Robinson of World First, and Scott Fletcher of ANS Group.

Other names added include Matthew Pitt of Global Personals, co-founded by Young Gun Ross Williams and venture capital fund Octopus Investments.

The Accelerate 250 were recognised for their achievements at the one-day business conference where they attended an inaugural meeting to share ideas on how start-ups can transition to become fast-growth businesses.

The event also included keynote speeches from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and Martha Lane Fox of Lucky Voice.
