Investment criteria:

Index ventures focuses on making seed, early stage venture, later stage venture, and private equity investments of between €10m and €50m in information technology and life sciences firms. The fund typically invests in fast growing companies with an average revenue growth rate of 70%, as well as proven business models and solid management teams going after large market opportunities. It particularly looks to invest in emerging global leaders with international expansion ambitions and strong links to Europe. To-date, it has invested in 140 companies in 38 countries, including Dropbox, Skype and JUST EAT.

€200m life sciences fund, backed by GlaxoSmithKline and Johnson & Johnson. €400m early-stage fund. €500m index growth fund.

Portfolio company:

JustPark is a typical high growth, globally ambitious Index portfolio company. The platform matches drivers with car parking space owners, allowing them to monetise their unused property. Alongside BMW i Ventures, Index invested an undisclosed sum in 2014 which saw one of its partners Robin Klein join JustPark’s board. The company subsequently closed the UK’s largest technology funding round on an equity crowdfunding platform when it raised £3.7m on Crowdcube in March 2015 from 2,900 investors.
