Inner City 100 awards celebrate fastest growing businesses
Techtonik comes out on top
Techtonik Ltd is celebrating after coming out on top at last nights Inner City 100 awards.
The ceremony, sponsored by the treasury, awarded businesses that have done the most to help regenerate local communities and drive UK competitiveness.
Comprising of a national league table, the top three companies, were Techtonik Ltd, Solarcentury and Media International Ltd, respectively.
Based in Sunderland, Techtonik is a small software provider which made the most of its bargaining power when it secured a deal with Veracicom, one of the largest application providers in the US.
In second place, Solarcentury has grown to be one of the UK’s leading solar photovoltaics companies, providing a sophisticated means of generating electricity from the sun regardless of the weather.
Other awards included the ‘Green Award’, won by Solarcentury and a Female Entrepreneur Award, awarded to Smartstyle Technology Training Ltd, highlighting the diversity of the entrepreneurial sector.
In support of the event, Chancellor Gordon Brown, said: “The Inner City 100 has been so important: uncovering entrepreneurs with ideas and ambition, celebrating the success of the fastest growing firms in our most deprived areas;”
Earlier in the afternoon, the Chancellor hosted a reception for leaders of the 100 companies. Both he and the visiting US Treasury Secretary, John Snow, praised the firms for embracing the ideals of Anglo-American entrepreneurship.
