Inspiring women: Lily Simpson
The healthy eating entrepreneur delivering diet meals to the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Agyness Dean, and Elle Macpherson…
Why is she impressive?
Gwyneth Paltrow has described Lily Simpson’s healthy eating food delivery service The Detox Kitchen as her “favourite” in London and she’s isn’t the only A-list celebrity fan. A former caterer, Simpson started the business in Battersea in 2012 after a friend told her how much she wished she would cook healthy, tasty meals to help her lose weight. Simpson put this idea in motion and now offers deliveries to customers across London of three meals a day (plus snacks and drinks) that are free of wheat, dairy and refined sugar, and operates a deli shop in Soho. With turnover in excess of £4m, Simpson’s start-up has attracted an army of celebrity clientele including Paltrow, Suki Waterhouse, Elle Macpherson, Agyness Dean, Sophie Dahl, and celebrity chef Gizzy Erskine alongside almost 100,000 Instagram followers. Earlier this year, Encore Capital led a £2m round to fund expansion and Simpson has said that she intends to open 10 London delis by 2019.
