Why is she impressive?
Having sold her first business – Handbag.com – to a member of the Hearst Group for a reported £22m in 2006, e-commerce mogul Nancy Cruickshank is well on her way to achieving the same success with her start-up discovery platform for independent beauty products. With over £2m funding, MyShowcase not only helps to generate exposure for up-and-coming brands but also opens up opportunities for women to start their own flexible businesses. Determined to help women aged 25 to 55 “where there are many start-up barriers”, Cruickshank has created a network of almost 1,400 trained ‘Stylists’ that get commission from the products they sell. Her focus on giving back to the entrepreneur community saw her named in the Inspiring Fifty index as one of Europe’s most inspiring women in tech.
