Insure and Go scores double victory
The Essex-based company scoops two awards at the glitzy awards ceremony
Online travel insurance company Insure and Go was crowned the T-Mobile ‘Fast Growth Business of the Year’ at an awards ceremony in London last night.
The company, which impressed judges with its growth rate and “breathtaking” commercial success, also scooped the prize for ‘Online Business of the Year’ at the Fast Growth Business Awards (FGBAs).
Perry Wilson, managing director at the company was clearly shocked by Insure and Go’s success at the second annual FGBAs. “I think it’s one of those things you try and go for and you don’t actually think you’re going to win but I think it’s amazing that we won tonight.”
With any luck Insure and Go will enjoy some of the success experienced by sports nutrition brand Maximuscle which took the overall winner title last year. Maximuscle’s non-executive director, Paul Hick, described how walking away with three awards last year has impacted the business.
“Winning last year transformed our business. It inspired our employees and had an enormous impact on the success of the company. I’d just like to thank Crimson and the FGBAs for the enormous impact it had on us.”
Other winners included price comparison site Gocompare.com which walked away with the prize in the coveted ‘One to watch’ category and Ten Lifestyle Management which scooped the prize for ‘Service Business of the Year’.
Peter Jones, star of Dragons’ Den, BBC TWO’s business venture capitalist programme, who presented the award in the category of ‘Best Use of Technology’, said that all the finalists should give themselves a pat on the back.
“I just want to say to everybody congratulations because you are the stars, you are the future. Forget the Budget, it’s irrelevant. You are going to make it happen. Congratulations to every person in this room for being nominated.”
