International Franchise Week returns to London
The bfa’s International Franchising Symposium is open to UK franchisors and will host speakers from around the world to share advice on expanding overseas
UK franchises looking for advice on going global are in luck as London is set to host two International Franchise Week events this month, with the International Franchising Symposium now open to delegates.
Ran by the British Franchise Association (bfa) and taking place March 16 and March 17 at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, the symposium will see speakers from the US, UK and Europe share their experiences and business lessons from growing internationally.
The event will cover “real-life franchise stories”, discussions on how to go global, and interactive roundtables and keynote sessions with speakers including bfa chairman and Home Instead Senior Care CEO Trevor Brocklebank, Water Babies UK founder Paul Thompson, and AccorHotels’ Jerome Lassara.
This month’s events mark the first-time London has hosted International Franchise Week since 2004, with the event having grown three-fold in the years since.
Pip Wilkins, chief executive at the bfa, said: “We know from our survey that in the UK, 20% of our franchisors are the master franchisees of businesses from outside the UK.
“Of our home-grown franchisors, 38% now franchise outside of the UK and one in nine brands are considering franchising internationally in the future.
“The appetite to expand globally is seen all over the world and franchising is the perfect model to support that ambition.”
