Internet Week Europe coming to London

Capital to host crowd-sourced festival of digital media

Businesses in the digital media sphere are being invited to participate in the first week-long festival celebrating Europe’s internet industry.

London will host the first Internet Week Europe in November, which will honour the internet’s open structure by inviting the entire European internet community, from the biggest organisations to small businesses, to participate and program the festival. All participants can add their event to the official calendar, and will have their events showcased and promoted.

“Some of the biggest names in digital media have joined together for a citywide celebration of all things internet,” said Nicolas Roope, co-chairman of Internet Week Europe. “It’s an amazing opportunity to experience the best of Europe’s internet culture and commerce, meeting the people behind the screens who are creating the future of digital media.”

The event follows the success of its sister festival, Internet Week New York, which saw the participation of over 150 organisations, including Yahoo!, YouTube, Pepsi and Motorola.

Internet Week Europe will take place across the capital from 8-12 November and will be initially supported by Yahoo!, TweetDeck and Google, plus many more.
