Intuit urges start-ups to make a ‘wish’ for £5,000 funding

Five-week StartUp Britain-backed campaign will reward most popular local businesses

Mobile payments provider Intuit today announced the launch of a national competition with a £15,000 prize pot for cash-strapped start-ups.

Backed by national enterprise campaign StartUp Britain, the Love Our Local Business campaign will give a £5,000 grant to the winner of the six-week scheme, with ten £1,000 cash awards for runners-up.

The campaign, which opened for submissions today, is aimed at supporting popular cash-strapped local businesses by easing their cashflow burden and granting them free exposure.

Businesses have until 11 December to enter the competition by submitting a ‘wish’ on the campaign website, detailing why they believe they should qualify for funding.

Participants are encouraged to drum up support for their business on social media, as the winner will be decided partially by online voting.

The scheme is the latest partnership between Intuit and StartUp Britain aimed at helping the ‘high street entrepreneurs of the future’, following last week’s announcement that the flagship PopUp Picadilly store is set to re-open over the Christmas period.
