Established in 2012 by Innocent Drinks founders Richard Reed, Jon Wright and Adam Balon – the trio had been investing in start-ups as angel investors since 2008.
JamJar exclusively backs European early stage consumer technology and offline brands and generally makes seed stage investments of between £150,000 and £1m into ideas that will have a net positive effect on the world. Portfolio companies are expected to have teams with a great track record and a simple, consumer-focused proposition with huge growth potential. The fund has invested in over 10 companies to date across food, music, finance, travel, retail and education, at seed stage, Series A and even led a $25.7m Series B round into Blue Bottle Coffee.

As a high-growth consumer service brand, Deliveroo is a strong match for JamJar’s investment criteria. The VC firm participated in a £2.75m Series A round in June 2014 which enabled the restaurant delivery platform to open its first international office. Deliveroo was founded in 2013 by Young Guns William Shu and Greg Orlowski and has gone on to launch operations in Berlin, Paris and Dublin, with plans to expand into the Middle East and Asia.
