Europe’s 25 Corporate Startup Stars winner offers a connected approach to matching start-ups with in-house departments

KLM brings start-ups into the business in a variety of ways – which include pitching events and the ‘X Gates’ project, where part of an airport was used to test new ideas.

They have also leveraged the top-ranked Dutch ecosystem for start-ups by partnering with the likes of Startup Amsterdam to host the Dutch Open multi API Hackathon. KLM’s commitment to developing early-stage talent is matched by a solid approach to integrating this into the business.

Introducing start-ups to in-house departments is one of the core tasks of KLM’s Innovation and Venturing Team, and the organisation is also an active partner in developing university incubators.
