KPMG partners with Entrepreneurial Spark for roll-out of UK business accelerators

Professional services firm will provide 1000 hours mentoring each month for next three years to support expansion of Natwest-backed ‘Hatcheries’

KPMG has announced it has “forged an alliance” with accelerator programme Entrepreneurial Spark to help support the roll-out of its start-up business hubs; dubbed ‘Hatcheries’, across the UK.

Part of a three-year deal, the professional services firm will provide 1000 hours of advice and mentoring each month to those within the accelerator programme and will also boost the six-figure start-up prize fund awarded to the “best entrepreneurs” from each Hatchery.

Last month, Entrepreneurial Spark revealed it had teamed up with NatWest to open three new accelerators in Bristol, Leeds and Brighton with each centre providing office space for up to 80 business owners over a six-month period.

The KPMG deal is said to mark another step forward for the accelerator programme in its goal to create “a golden age for entrepreneurs”.

Entrepreneurial Spark CEO, Jim Duffy, said of the partnership: “At Entrepreneurial Spark, one of our top challenges is ensuring that those start-ups which are seeking investment are truly investor ready.

“We look forward to working with [KPMG] across the country over the next three years, enabling entrepreneurs across the country to grow their businesses, create jobs and support the economy.”
