learndirect to offer new enterprise qualifications

Online learning provider will provide approved courses and accreditations in business support and enterprise development

Online learning provider learndirect today announced it has received approval from UK enterprise standards setting body SFEDI to offer new qualifications in enterprise skills.

SFEDI’s approval means the company can offer recognised enterprise and business start qualifications through a newly-designed programme of learning courses designed to boost entrepreneurship skills.

In addition, learndirect will be able to accredit its own staff in enterprise coaching skills in order to offer this support to start-ups across the UK.

The firm said its enterprise coaching would be offered in a wide variety of forms, from one-on-one guidance and workshops through to advice on setting up a business and further guidance after launch.

The courses will initially be available to clients on learndirect’s Work Programme, a scheme designed to boost employability and work skills, with plans to roll this out further in the future.

It will be overseen by a newly-appointed Enterprise Director, Ian Carlier, who has extensive experience in business development having set up a string of small businesses since the 1980’s.

Carlier said: “It’s fantastic news to have been successful in becoming a SFEDI Awards centre. It’s really exciting to join learndirect at this time.

“I’m particularly passionate about giving people the skills they need to take their entrepreneurial spirit to the next level and I’m looking forward to growing our enterprise services in the coming months across the UK and Internationally.”
