Liverpool software start-up LivingLens closes £1m deal

Investment reflects growth of the city's digital sector with Liverpool now UK's second fastest-growing digital economy

Liverpool-based software provider LivingLens has secured £1m Series A from a group of private investors to help develop its “cutting edge” video technology.

LivingLens specailises in capture and video data mining technologies and works with big name clients such as Carphone Warehouse, Vine and Unilever.

In the last year the company has grown from a team of three to a team of 14 (full-time and contractors) and has raised two earlier rounds to support its growth; including £60,000 in February 2014 and £200,000 in June 2014.

The investment in the digital start-up is said to highlight the “continued growth” of Liverpool’s digital sector-particularly the area around the ‘Baltic Triangle’-and follows a recent report by Tech Nation and Tech City UK which shows that Liverpool now houses the second fastest growing digital economy in the UK.

LivingLens CEO, Carl Wong, outlined the company’s offering:

“Our enterprise scale platform, from smartphone apps through to our video business intelligence and data mining engine, enables our clients to leverage video, quickly and efficiently as if it was any other type of data. In essence we make video, which was an impenetrable media, a more much valuable asset.”
