Tell us what your business does:

Liza Veta is a luxury high-end womenswear brand specialising in daywear and eveningwear. We design and manufacture ready-to-wear clothing, and retail online.

Where did the idea for your business come from?

I have always loved fashion, and it has been a part of me for as long as I remember. Looking around me I realised that I wanted to create beauty and make women feel stunning and empowered.

I wanted to create my own business because I feel that this is the best way to express my creativity and make my ideas become reality.

How did you know there was a market for it?

I have a passion for elegant clothing designs, and am very sensitive to the quality of the fabrics and the manufacturing. I know that many women share this passion and love wearing exclusive pieces.

What were you doing before starting up?

I studied financial mathematics, and have had several roles in trading and sales in the financial industry.

Have you always wanted to run your own business?

No. I grew up thinking that I needed a formal education in order to be successful in life. However I gradually grew emboldened and allowed my inner drive to pull me towards starting up my own company.

How did you raise the money?

The money I invested in my business comes from my savings.

Describe your business model and how you make money:

The business is an online fashion retail store. Our collection is available to purchase via the website, and we deliver in the UK and worldwide.

What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?

Sourcing quality fabrics and partnering with reliable and skilled manufacturers has been a challenge, and one that requires constant attention.

I supervise every aspect of the selection and purchase of the fabrics, and treat my manufacturers with transparence and respect.

What was your first big breakthrough?

Great insights come from cooperation. I find that partnering with other entrepreneurs in the fashion andbeauty industry helped me gain insights, and client connections.

What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Beyond the cliché “stop thinking about and it and talking about it, just go ahead and do it!”, I would advise anybody who wants to start their own business to be ready for setbacks and frustrations, and have a mental and physical practice to deal with their emotions.

Personally I always make time for physical activity, and surround myself with pets at every occasion I get.

Where do you want to be in five years’ time?

My goal is to establish Liza Veta as a luxury fashion brand, and open physical shops in highly visible locations such as high streets, shopping malls and airports.
