London Technology Week 2015: The events you don’t want to miss

Including’s Scaleups Session on growth finance, a role reversal of VCs pitching to start-ups and an event featuring an 11 year-old coder…

Following on from the success of 2014’s inaugural London Technology Week, which saw 40,000 people from 40 countries come together for over 200 events, this year’s initiative is set to be bigger than ever.

Running from Monday June 15 to Sunday June 21 2015, London Technology Week looks to celebrate the capital’s global position as a centre for tech innovation, talent and entrepreneurship.

Supported by Boris Johnson’s London & Partners, Tech London Advocates, ExCeL and UBM, this year’s week-long festival will play host to a range of thought-provoking events including Startups’ very own Scaleups Sessions (details below), alongside a conference for women in tech and a start-up pitching event with a twist…

Setting up and growing a business in London with UKTI

When: Monday 15 June

London & Partners and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) are holding a “business education” event to help entrepreneurs start and grow a business in the capital. The afternoon event will include a panel discussion about London’s tech landscape, insights from successful tech start-ups and a networking reception.

Scaleups Sessions, Growth finance: How to turn your start-up into a scale-up

Retail Tech Matchup

Designed to showcase innovative retail technology start-ups looking for investment, this latest quarterly Matchup event has places for six start-ups to present their businesses to a crowd of investors, advisors and entrepreneurs. There will also be talks from Pete Danks; industry head at Google Retail, Jon Lerner; principal at Smedvig Capital and Ivan Mazour; co-founder of Ometria.

Women In Tech

Aimed at encouraging women to break into the tech industry, this evening event will include talks and networking and will have a host of senior women from FTSE 100 organisations in attendance. The agenda will include a discussion on the history of women in STEM, case studies of women in tech and a chat with a budding young female coder aged just 11 years-old.

Interop London

One of the flagship events of London Tech Week, the two-day Interop London conference will provide insights, keynote sessions and demonstrations on IT infrastructures, cloud computing, mobility, cyber security, data-defined business intelligence and software applications.

The event will also showcase leading innovations from within the London tech scene and start-up community with key speakers including Cisco CEO Phil Smith and Barclays’ digital director Derek White.

Money Talks, VCs take the stage

In a role reversal to traditional pitches, this Innovate Finance-backed event will see venture capital (VC) firms pitch to the financial technology (fintech) community. VCs will be coming from several fintech hubs around the worlds including NYC, London and Singapore and will battle it out to a Dragons’ Den-style panel of start-ups looking for investment.

Organised by Microsoft, Recoder 2015 is a one-day conference designed to help app developers, IT professionals and entrepreneurs to get the “fast track” on Office 365. With technical workshops and keynote speeches on the future of productivity and collaboration, the event intends to help developers work smarter and tap into Office 365 API opportunities.
