New book tells the story of the world’s leading guide publisher
The founder of Lonely Planet, the world’s best-loved travel brand, will be sharing his story in London next month.
Tony Wheeler, is launching his new book Once While Travelling – The Lonely Planet Story, at Stanfords book shop, Long Acre on 10 September.
The book, which was written with his wife and co-founder, Maureen Wheeler, reveals the story of how Lonely Planet was founded, grew into the world’s leading guide publisher and was then sold to the BBC.
The pair founded the publishing company in 1973 and have since produced travel guides to nearly every country across the globe.
