Maddie & Mark’s Shoes on hunt for “ambitious” franchisees

Children’s shoe retailer launches franchise opportunities across UK and Ireland

Independent children’s shoe retailer Maddie & Mark’s Shoes is seeking “ambitious” entrepreneurs to join its new franchise business, with openings in the UK and Ireland.

Established in 2007 by mumpreneur Imogen Douglas out of the desire to find “well-fitted shoes for her daughter Maddie”, Maddie & Mark’s currently operates two Edinburgh outlets which stock “stylish, unique” shoes from various countries to cater for the different shapes and sizes of children’s feet.

Since launch, the retailer has achieved multi-million revenues, hitting its first £1m in October 2011, and is now looking to build on its growth to date, launching a franchise operation to encourage national expansion of its brand.

Franchise owners will receive operational systems, and software, marketing tools and support to find premises, source stock and recruit staff.

10 days induction training is also included in its franchise package and franchisees will be assigned a mentor for on-going support.

Maddie & Mark’s Shoes founder, Douglas, commented: “We have a proven business model with potentially excellent margins and growth potential.

“For the right person, a Maddie & Mark’s franchise offers the chance to be your own boss with the backing of an established business with a very strong brand.

“Footwear is one of the few sectors where parents won’t buy online, children’s feet are always growing and they need multiple pairs of shoes, making this business very recession resistant.”
