Marriott Hotels calls on tech start-ups to help “shape the future” of travel
The Gadget Show presenter Georgie Barrat and senior Marriott figures will select three firms to pilot their products within a European Marriott Hotel
Marriott Hotels, the global hotel chain, has announced the launch of its second annual European accelerator programme, giving UK technology start-ups the chance to help “shape the future travel and hospitality experience”.
The 2017 TestBED intake is looking for participants to help innovate in three areas:
- The in-room experience
- Transforming the overall guest experience both in and out of the hotel
- Helping guests find headspace to flourish and stay inspired
Open to seed or early-stage start-ups with products or services that are ready to go to market, a shortlist of eight entrants will go on to pitch to a panel of industry experts, including The Gadget Show presenter Georgie Barrat, and senior Marriott figures on 22 and 23 August.
The three most promising will then be selected to join a 10-week programme in which they will receive mentoring and training and pilot their product at a Marriott Hotel in Europe.
John Licence, vice president premium & select brands Europe at Marriott International, commented:
“Marriott Hotels aims to be at the forefront of innovation and TestBED provides us with the ideal testing ground to find, nurture and test cutting-edge products that have the power to transform the travel and hotel experience.
Charles Cadbury, CEO of Dazzle – one of two winning innovations of TestBED 2016 – added: “We would not be where we are today without TestBED, fact.
“The speed at which we gained market insight and user feedback would have been very hard and time consuming to achieve had we not had the support of Marriott Hotels.”
The deadline for entries is 7 July 2017. Find out more and apply for TestBED here.
