Nationwide bus tour to promote Small Business Saturday announced

Tour begins on November 17 and will look to increase awareness of event to support UK’s independent businesses

A nationwide bus tour is set to launch on November 17 to promote the UK’s next Small Business Saturday, taking place on Saturday 6 December.

The tour will begin in Leeds and will travel to 13 destinations including Edinburgh, Manchester, and Birmingham, before arriving at its final stop in Camden on December 4.

Launched in the UK last year, Small Business Saturday looks to celebrate Britain’s independent retailers and encourages shoppers across the country to support their local businesses.

David Cameron along with senior politicians Ed Miliband, George Osborne, Vince Cable,  Chuka Umunna, and Matthew Hancock took to the streets to express their support for the campaign last year.

The initiative also attracted the support of leading organisations such as the Federation of Small Businesses and corporates such as O2 and Lloyds.

Small Business Saturday national campaign director, Michelle Ovens, commented: “The first Small Business Saturday last year was an exceptional example of collaboration and co-operation with small businesses teaming up in communities around the UK.

“Our bus tour last year was a very visible way of bringing Small Business Saturday to centres around the UK and was instrumental in drumming up interest, support and enthusiasm.

“We are visiting even more places this year and hope small business owners and consumers will visit the bus to get information and find out ways in which they can support small businesses and make the day work most effectively for companies in their own communities.
