New deal to boost London and Cambridge technology “corridor”

Partnership between Wayra and Cambridge Wireless intends to help tech start-ups capitalise on regional networks and contacts

Wayra Open Future, Telefonica’s digital accelerator, has partnered with Cambridge Wireless (CW) to strengthen the relationship between tech start-ups in London and Cambridge with the goal to bolster the “corridor” between the two UK tech hubs.

The deal will allow CW members to tap into Telefonica’s network of entrepreneurs across wireless, mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) and will have access to Wayra Open Future’s investor network and acceleration services.

The arrangement will also see Wayra start-ups receive discounted membership to CW’s tech events, conferences and will have the opportunity to collaborate with a global network of more than 400 businesses.

Gary Stewart, director at Wayra Open Future UK, commented:

“The real potential of this partnership is to strengthen regional ecosystems across the UK as a whole. Wayra Open Future and CW are exemplars as to the aspirations and global appetites of our UK tech-based businesses.”
