“UK’s first” augmented reality property app raises $500,000

Virtual View App wins backing from high net worth investors to launch 3D virtual platform

London-based Virtual View App, said to be the UK’s first mass-market augmented reality property platform, has secured $500,000 from a group of private investors.

Founded in 2013 out of start-up accelerator the Rainmaking Loft, Virtual View App combines digital and printed marketing materials to allow users to access 3D property models, 3D floor-plans, photo galleries and videos by scanning an image.

Available on Android and iOS, the app claims that its “rich digital content” technology helps estate agents to secure more property instructions and gives prospective buyers and tenants “an entirely new medium” to sell or rent their property.

The property app is currently being used by several estate agency groups including Campsie and Fine & Country (pictured) and is being trialled by overseas agents.

The funding will  support the app’s official launch and “fuel further expansion” in the UK and selected property markets.

It will also go towards the development of digital products to sit alongside its ‘virtual view’ offering, one of which will use the concept of street view to show the inside of a property.

Virtual View App co-founder, Dominic Versace, a former estate agent, commented:

“Interest from the industry has so far been very positive, so much so that we have already started discussions around the next stage of fundraising in order to further develop the business.”
