London nightlife app launches after raising £500,000 from Barcadi investor

Following a seed round in March, Party Hype intends to enable Londoners to "discover the best party in town" and live-broadcast their night to other users...

An app intended to help partygoers find the best parties in London has launched this week, eight months after securing £500,000 seed investment from an angel investor and a shareholder member of the Bacardi family.

The brainchild of Polish entrepreneurs Anna Frankowska and Andrzej Frankowski, Party Hype is initially focusing on London nightlife and will enable app users to find parties in real-time, live broadcast their night to other users via photos, videos and reviews, and book events and guest lists.

The app serves a dual purpose; helping both those looking for a great party venue and the venue owners – through the app, venue owners can communicate with users directly.

Co-founder Frankowska – a former investment banker for RBS – has said she was inspired to launch the app in response “to a lack of genuine, real-time information on London happenings […] and the commercial opportunity to disrupt an industry stagnating under its own lack of innovation”.

However, Party Hype does have competitors in the space. YPlan – which recently sold to Time Out for £1.6m – and Dojo app are already established in the market.

Frankowska has said the app is tapping into an industry worth “£66bn per year”:

“There is an increasing disconnection felt by city dwellers, and this division of the leisure sector is long overdue a tech revolution.

“For partygoers in this hyper-connected age, information on nights out is often all too static, and therefore not representative of reality. We enable partygoers to find the best party on a particular night – as defined by their peers on the app.”
