O2 announces roll-out of 4G tariffs

High-speed mobile network has already attracted 18m users

Mobile provider O2 has today launched a range of 4G tariffs for new and existing customers, with specific packages available for small businesses.

Having launched its 4G network four months ago, the operator has already rolled-out its “superfast” mobile internet to 18m users in 13 cities across the UK, a target which it estimated would take an additional six weeks to achieve.

It intends for its tariff selection, which is available on pay monthly, lease and SIM only, to encourage more customers to join and “unlock the benefits of 4G”.

Small and medium-sized companies will have access to individual and shared 4G tariffs as well as 4G ready devices to help support their businesses and enable them to “do more on the move”.

4G tariffs start at £17 for a rolling-monthly contract and £21 for SIM only.

O2’s expansion of its 4G network sees it compete against rival operator Everything Everywhere, who launched the UK’s first 4G mobile internet service in September last year.

Phil Maple, general manager of consumer marketing at O2, commented:

“We are committed to helping our customers unleash the possibilities of 4G, which is why we’re introducing these new tariffs designed to give even more people the chance to experience the very best in mobile technology.”
