Ocado relaunch search to find Britain’s Next Top Supplier

Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge and Lord Stuart Rose to judge "next big things" in food and drinks

Ocado has relaunched its campaign to find the next big thing thing in food and drink, as a response to new YouGov research revealing that 45% of British consumers believe supermarkets are not doing enough to support small suppliers,

The competition to find Britain’s Next Top Supplier is open to all small and medium-sized businesses which don’t yet have food or drink products stocked at Asda, Waitrose, Morrisosn’s, Tesco or Sainsbury’s – and will be judged by Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge and retail entrepreneur Lord Stuart Rose.

The winner will receive listing at ocado.com, as well as a £20,000 marketing package and mentoring from last year’s winner, Hannah Rhodes.

The YouGov research also revealed that 32% of shoppers prefer to shop in supermarkets that support small suppliers, and 38% actively seek out small label products. More than half (51%) rely on supermarkets to access products from small suppliers, with 42% believing it is an opportunity to discover more unusual products.
