Office catering platform City Pantry closes £1.1m

London-based company plans to expand throughout the UK before taking slice of the £48bn European catering market

City Pantry, the office catering platform featured in Tech Pitch, has completed a £1.1m funding round from the Angel Co Fund and The London Co Investment fund.

Founded in 2013, City Pantry delivers meals curated by independent chefs, restaurants and street-food vendors to help offices in London cater for events.

The operation claims to have seen 400% growth over the last 12 months and counts Facebook, Buzzfeed and Deloitte as clients.

Following a £300,000 funding round last year, City Pantry will use this latest finance to invest in sales, marketing and engineering as it attempts to expand nationwide and capitalise on the £48bn European catering market.

Stuart Sunderland, founder of City Pantry, said: “For many people, especially amongst our own customers and vendors, their work is changing the world and we’re proud to be part of helping them succeed.

“We believe that good food makes a great company. Sharing a meal creates an environment where better communication, productivity and health are nourished.”

Tim Mills, investment director at the Angel CoFund, added: “What is really compelling about City Pantry is the business-to-business nature of its model, which gives corporate customers access to exciting and differentiated menus for the first time and affords the team a more stable order cycle, building a good foundation from which to scale the business.”
