Online retailer of clothes for “big and tall” men secures backing from early ASOS investors

Big Dude Clothing set for growth following William Currie Group investment

An online retailer which specialises in clothing for big and tall men, Big Dude Clothing, has attracted investment from the William Currie Group – a firm which focuses on investing in fast growing e-commerce and retail businesses.

Based in Merseyside, Big Dude Clothing was established two years ago by owner Darrell Freeman and retails men’s clothing from a 2XL through to an 8XL and claims to have grown 100% year on year.

The company sells clothes by popular high street brands including Wrangler, Farah, Regatta, Mish mash, Kangol and Dr Martens and hopes to use the investment to expand its product range.

It also intends to develop its infrastructure and digital marketing to become the “go to” place for clothing for larger gentlemen.

Big Dude Clothing founder, Freeman, commented: “We are extremely excited to have secured investment from the William Currie Group, it brings a wealth of experience and we look forward to working together to accelerate the growth of Big Dude Clothing.

Liverpool-based William Currie Group was an early investor in ASOS and The Hut Group; a good sign that the Group can deliver in taking this niche start-up on to bigger things.

Bill Currie, of the William Currie Group, said:

“It is great to back a local business and Big Dude Clothing have built a great brand. We believe with the correct infrastructure in place, the company can significantly increase its market share and look forward to working […] to achieve this”.
