PayPal and Braintree open applications for new London start-up accelerator

Start Tank London to provide five start-ups with access to office space, mentors, and business opportunities

Mobile payments specialists PayPal and Braintree have partnered to launch Start Tank London, a programme which looks to support UK start-ups to “drive success and growth”.

Building on the success of American counterpart Start Tank Boston, the initiative will select five start-ups to become residents at Braintree’s London offices for six months.

The five entrepreneurs will receive a package of support which includes access to mentors from PayPal, Braintree, and external advisors, networking and business opportunities with angel investors and venture capitalists (VCs), and access to PayPal’s Startup Blueprint; tools to “help businesses grow”, with free PayPal and Braintree fees and a customer care team.

In a statement on Braintree’s blog, Braintree and PayPal developer relations senior director, John Lunn, said:

“The UK start-up ecosystem is a vibrant and exciting one, and we are committed to helping them succeed. Several of the start-ups that have taken part in Start Tank Boston have already graduated from the programme, and we look forward to emulating this success in the UK.”

Applications for Start Tank London open today and close on August 18, click here to apply.
