Digital sports start-up Pitchero lands £3.1m Series A funding
Sports club management platform will improve tech and social content for grassroots and semi-professional football
Pitchero, the Leeds-based sports club management platform, has raised £3.1m in Series A investment from ICM, which has become a minority stakeholder in the business.
Founded by Mark Fletcher and Jon Milsom in 2007, Pitchero was created to help amateur and grassroots sports teams organise and grow their communities, through personalised apps and websites.
The platform currently hosts 200,000 websites, with 70,000 active teams and over one million registered users across football, rugby, hockey and cricket.
The company recently secured a broadcast agreement for non-league football using its Pitchero Play platform. It will start with the Northern Premier League and eventually include Division One North and South. Clubs at any level can use the platform to publish instant highlight of games across social media.
The funding will be used to improve the grassroots and semi-professional football offering for players and supporters through technology and social content.
Fletcher commented: “We want Pitchero to be the network that allows clubs to grow participation and engage the next generation of sports stars, and this new investment will strongly help us towards this aim.”
