PROCAM TV acquires competitor Hammerhead TV

Deal follows May’s management buy-out of fast-growing broadcast hire firm

Broadcast equipment hire provider PROCAM TV has announced the acquisition of competitor Hammerhead TV, in a deal which sees the company expand into Scotland.

The purchase represents the first significant acquisition for PROCAM following May’s management buy-out of the business, which was led by its existing management team and financed by private equity firm Foresight.

Battersea-based PROCAM provides camera equipment and film crews for broadcasters, production companies and private clients across the UK and internationally.

Since launch 20 years ago it has grown into the UK’s leading private broadcast hire provider, providing its services to well-known shows such as Made In Chelsea and the Great British Bake-Off.

Headquartered in Glasgow and with offices in Edinburgh, London and Manchester, Hammerhead TV is one of Scotland’s predominant broadcast hire providers, providing crew and equipment for shows such as Britain’s Next Top Model and Dragons’ Den.

PROCAM’s purchase of Hammerhead will see the company establish a significant presence in the Scottish market, which is the second biggest for film, television and animation production in the UK following London.

John Brennan, chief executive of PROCAM, said: “Our customers tell us they want a consistently high level of service and equipment, wherever they’re filming. We’re on a mission to make that a reality and today’s news shows how we’re investing to extend the reach of the PROCAM offer across the UK.

“Together with organisations like Creative Scotland, we’re confident we can make Scotland an even more attractive option by delivering a first class infrastructure for broadcasters and production companies.”
