Promedica24 recruit leaves corporate life to run franchise business

Angela Mewis joined the specialist live-in care chain in January and says she now "benefits from having real control over what she does day-today"

A former London-based chartered surveyor has left the corporate world for business by becoming a franchisee for Promedica24 and is said to have already become a valued member of the chain; just three months after joining.

Angela Mewis, who has operated the Promedica24 franchise in Surrey since January, said she decided to “escape the rat race” of corporate life and become a franchisee for the live-in care provider because it offered the “best of both worlds; my hard work benefits me and I’m doing something worthwhile to help those truly in need in the community”.

She recently hired her husband Paul to work with her on administration and business support and has said that “the sky’s the limit” when it comes to her ambitions for the business.

Established in Germany in 2004 and launched in the UK in May 2015, Promedica24 claims to be Europe’s largest provider of live-in care services and offers 24 hour services as an alternative to residential care homes with a workforce of over 5,000 care staff.

Said to be tapping into a market worth in excess of £25bn, the chain has a range of home-based franchise opportunities available across the UK for an average cost of £15,000 + VAT which includes training, recruitment support, and advice from a dedicated franchise support manager.

On her experience of being a Promedica24 franchisee so far, Mewis commented:

“The training and support has been great, it’s really good. I often refer back to my notes which shows just how thorough it was. I’ve met up with fellow franchisees and they are all really supportive which is great. It gives us more strength and presence in the market when people realise we have national offices. The head office team are on hand if you need them and we’ve recently had our first group training session of the year.

“I’m proud of my business, and I love that I can make a profit and a difference at the same time. Why should you have to choose one or the other?”
