PROPERCORN competition: bag a week of desk space at popcorn brand’s London HQ

Five entrepreneurs will be chosen to work alongside PROPERCORN's 40-strong team from 13-19 November, receiving mentorship and support

PROPERCORN, the Startups 100-featured popcorn brand, is to give five people a week of desk space, mentoring and as much popcorn as they can eat at its London headquarters.

Founded in 2011, PROPERCORN creates and sells a range of gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly popcorn in flavours such as peanut butter and almond, Worcester sauce and sun-dried tomato, and sweet coconut and vanilla.

PROPERCORN – which won Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Startups Awards 2015 – is now sold in 14 countries around the world and producing around three million bags of popcorn a month.

Coinciding with Global Entrepreneurship Week, the winning entrepreneurs will take up residence at the company’s riverside offices from 13 to 19 November, working alongside PROPERCORN’S 40-strong team.

They will get breakfast and lunch from the in-house chef, and workshop ideas over coffee with the PROPERCORN founders.

Cassandra Stavrou, co-founder of PROPERCORN, commented: “Starting your own business might sound full of glamour and adventure but the reality, for most, is far from that.

“I found the early days of starting my own business massively lonely and spent hours working from my mum’s kitchen table on my own. I’d have given anything to have had a buzzy office environment where I could reboot and get inspired.

“Even if just for a week, we want to give some exciting entrepreneurial talent the headspace and physical space they need to take their idea to the next level.”

To enter, aspiring entrepreneurs must submit a two-minute video pitch to cass@propercorn.com introducing themselves and their business, and explaining why they’d benefit from a week of space at Propercorn. Entries close on Wednesday 8 November.
