Rapper Example invests six-figure sum in UK start-up WantMyBet
Early-stage business defines itself as the "social network for football betting" and marks musician's first foray in the investment space
UK-based football betting start-up WantMyBet has received a six-figure investment from high-profile musician Example – real name Elliot Gleave.
Founded in 2014, WantMyBet describes itself as “the social network for football betting” and provides users with statistics and success rates to help inform “tipsters” about their bets on games.
Punters from around the world can be sorted by skill, risk level and average tip win. The company claims to have “stripped out” the more complicated betting jargon to appeal to all users, regardless of their previous betting experience.
Example commented: “It’s a really exciting time in the UK for new enterprises and entrepreneurs. I’ve been keeping my eyes out for new emerging companies and WantMyBet was one that grabbed my attention. Combining the social element with betting is a very interesting space that I can see doing very well.
“WantMyBet is a genuinely innovative platform that I think will change the way people place their football bets. Being a massive football fan I’d definitely get on this site to find tips for the weekend.”
