Retail convenience chain One Stop secures five new franchisees in five weeks

Franchise ramps up UK network as new concept to support independent retailers grows legs

One Stop Franchise, a UK retail convenience franchise, is celebrating its recent success having secured five new franchisees in the space of five weeks in the Stoke-on-Trent area; a new regional cluster for the chain.

The news marks the growth of its franchise concept for independent retailers which offers existing shop owners the chance to become a franchisee and switch their store to a One Stop Franchise.

Its latest franchisees; husband-and-wife duo Anne and Mark Trinder who own a 1,000 sq ft site in Stone, Raj Sangha who owns a 2,700 sq. ft. store in Stoke, Stephen Green who owns a store in Barlaston, Muhammed Riaz who owns a store in Smallthorne, and Jim Benbow; whose site in Ipstones has operated for over 100 years, have now all undergone a One Stop re-fit and are trading under the franchise brand.

A subsidiary of Tesco, One Stop Stores Limited launched its franchise concept in early 2014 and now has over 750 stores across England and Wales.

With claims that it is “reaping the rewards” of its neighbourhood retail proposition, the bfa associate member is keen to attract other independent stores to join its chain and says that by becoming a franchisee, store owners will benefit from increased marketing materials, increased product choice and support from a dedicated business manager.

Eligible franchisees must own an existing convenience outlet or post office, have weekly turnover of over £10,000 and a site size of between 1,000 sq. ft to 2,500 sq. ft.

One Stop Franchise head of franchise operations, John Miller, said of the news:

Building a website for your business idea is easier than you might think. Our online tool ranks the top website builders that offer free trials.

“It’s great from a customer perspective to see the One Stop brand growing amongst independent retailers;  it’s also handy to show potential franchisees a number of different types of store within a 10-15 mile radius. As our franchise estate continues to grow, these clusters will become more and more of a regular occurrence.”
