15 start-ups shortlisted for Wozniak and Branson-backed awards
Startups 100-listed companies bio-bean, Sup App and SalaryFinance among European finalists for competition to find the world's best digital firms
15 start-ups have been named as European finalists for the 2016 Talent Unleashed Awards – a global competition to find the “most exceptional” digital and tech firms – judged by Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Facebook EMEA VP Nicola Mendelsohn.
The shortlisted businesses have been chosen for their “dedication to transforming business and communities through tech innovation”.
Several of the businesses named have featured in Startups.co.uk’s Startups 100 index’s such as bio-bean (Best Start-Up – Social Impact), Sup App (Best Start-Up – Tech Innovation), Blippar and SalaryFinance (Best Tech IPO – Venture Capital Raising) as well as Startups Awards 2014 Product Business of the Year Lost My Name (Best Digital SME – Tech Innovation).
The global grand prize for the five winners consists of one-on-one mentoring with Steve Wozniak, a trip to a “cutting-edge technology conference”, and a tour of some of Silicon Valley’s major tech companies.
Jon Butterfield, director at event organiser Talent International, commented: “As a technology awards programme, Talent Unleashed is unique, not only for its global outreach and stellar judges but for the quality and diversity of its entrants.
“This year has been no exception. We have some amazing technology companies from across Europe and some truly disruptive technology leaders and I can’t wait for the awards.”
