Ripples franchise couple celebrate first year in business

Enterprising duo intend to open multiple bathroom showrooms in coming years

Husband-and-wide duo Martin and Fiona McDonagh, franchisees for premier bathroom chain Ripples, are celebrating following an “extremely successful” first year in business.

The couple, who own and run the Ripples showroom in Harpenden, joined the franchise in July 2013 and say they have “never looked back” with plans to open multiple outlets over the coming years.

Established 25 years ago, 2013 Startups Awards Franchisee of the Year finalist Ripples designs and supplies high-end, bespoke bathrooms for residential and commercial clients and currently has 16 franchise showrooms across the UK.

It is keen to extend its franchise operations and has opportunities available nationwide for a franchisee fee of £40,000 + VAT which includes training and initial support.

The bathroom franchise claims that, for prospective franchisees, now is the “ideal time to invest” as the market is predicted to be worth £1bn by 2016.

Discussing his Ripples franchise “journey”, Martin McDonagh commented:

“It had always been my intention to start my own business. I have always wanted to be in charge of my own destiny – after all, you spend such a large proportion of your life working, why not enjoy yourself?

“I would have no reservations about buying the franchise again. The business is a proven model and if you follow it there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t replicate the success of other franchisees.

“Having the framework in place makes it a lot less stressful because we have the safety net of an established supplier relationship, good guidance from the franchisor, help and advice on administration and accounting – the value of all that more than outweighs the fee.”
