Ignite100 launches Newcastle co-working and events space Campus North

Workspace to provide facilities and mentoring for up to 150 entrepreneurs

Software and services provider Sage has partnered with Ignite100, “Europe’s first” £1m tech accelerator, to support the launch of the accelerator’s co-working space Campus North in a move to develop the North East’s “growing reputation […] as a hub for tech start-ups”.

Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 10,000 sq. ft. Campus North will offer work space for up to 150 entrepreneurs including facilities for Ignite 100’s participants.

Residents at the space will receive advice and support from Sage in the form of business mentors and developers from children’s coding group Code Club.

Sage employees will also be available for “master classes and fireside chats” on business topics ranging from web development and cloud hosting to marketing and sales.

As part of its support of the new workspace area, the enterprise software firm has also provided a £10,000 cash injection towards events and business development.

Sage One UK & Ireland general manager, Claire Carter, discussed the partnership:

“We’re committed to, and hugely passionate about, UK entrepreneurship and small businesses everywhere. This new partnership draws on our extensive experience of supporting the UK start-up community and we’re looking forward to further supporting the burgeoning local tech start-up scene.”

Paul Smith, Ignite100 co-founder and director, added:

“I’m delighted that Sage is now leading the way by working with Campus North to support early-stage tech start-ups. A successful tech cluster can demonstrate success to the outside and support itself from within, and Sage certainly embodies those principals.”
