Sage launches online software to track payroll in real-time

Sage One enables business owners to adapt to payroll regulation changes

Sage has launched a new software to enable business owners to track their payroll information in real-time.

The online software Sage One Payroll hopes to simplify the task of providing employee pay-as-you-earn (PAYE), national insurance and student loan information to HMRC at point of payment, which is set to become a legal requirement  as of April 2013.

Designed for small business owners and start-ups with up to 15 customers, the real-time information (RTI) software has been developed to process payroll in a similar way to traditional systems and is accessible from a range of internet-enabled devices.

The software, which is currently enabling customers to submit RTI returns ahead of the regulation changes as part of an HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) pilot, joins finance software developers including IRIS  in developing packages to suit the new legal requirements.

In addition to the new software, which is available from £5 per month, Sage is offering 24/7 customer support to guide small businesses and start-ups through the process of RTI.

Neilson Watts, associate product manager for Sage One Payroll commented on the regulation changes: “There is a lot of scaremongering about RTI and its complexity, but employers should be reassured that the fundamentals of running a payroll remain the same.  Worryingly however, there are still a number of start-ups that are not aware that it’s coming.

“It is essential employers are aware of their RTI responsibilities and invest time in ensuring that they are compliant.  At Sage One, we have made this process as simple as it can be.”
