Dragons' Den investor, entrepreneur, Funding Pioneer
Sarah Willingham is a successful entrepreneur, business investor, leading consumer expert and BBC Dragon.
Sarah has received a number of accolades for her contribution to business and she holds three business degrees including an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, where she is also an advisory board member.
Sarah grew up in Stoke on Trent and was fascinated by business from an early age. In 2003, Sarah spotted an opportunity to create a chain of Indian restaurants, and raised finance to buy The Bombay Bicycle Club. She went on to turn it into the largest and most successful Indian restaurant chain in the UK. In 2007, Sarah sold her shares in the Bombay Bicycle Club for a seven figure sum.
Eager to pursue a new venture, and with a strong background in food and business, Sarah appeared alongside Raymond Blanc as a judge on the popular BBC2 series The Restaurant. The show ran for three series and Sarah’s no-nonsense approach proved popular with viewers. Sarah co-founded and invested in The London Cocktail Club and Craft Cocktail Company with the winners of Series 3. She has helped grow these two concepts into fast growing, award winning businesses.
In 2015, Sarah joined Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Nick Jenkins and Touker Suleyman on the 13th series of Dragons’ Den (BBC2). Sarah’s expertise in raising finance for her own businesses made her the ideal candidate to help guide several start-up businesses through the difficult process of financial planning.
