Search engine for classified ads Adzuna acquires Oodle UK

Adzuna to redirect Oodle UK traffic to its own site from today

Search engine start-up Adzuna has acquired the UK division of classified ads search site Oodle for an undisclosed sum.

Named as one to watch for Young Guns 2013, Adzuna is a search engine for property, job and car adverts, of which there are over two million listed on the site.

With over a million visitors to the site every month, the firm, which was founded in 2011, is set to benefit from Oodle UK traffic, while the American division will continue to be operated by Oodle.

Users visiting the job, car and property categories of the Oodle UK site will be redirected to Adzuna from today, while searchers of categories such as pets and boats will be redirected to classified ads site Mobiya.

The news follows the announcement that Adzuna is providing job and housing data to support Number 10 Dashboard, the government data app used by David Cameron to aid decisions based on real-time data.

Speaking of the acquisition, which sees Adzuna take on a number of Oodle UK’s advertisers and affiliates, co-founder Doug Monro commented: “Adzuna is taking the classifieds market to the next level by creating unique social tools and opening up data, and is the natural home for users of Oodle in the UK.

“This acquisition will accelerate our growth towards becoming the UK’s biggest classifieds search engine.”
